Disclaimer: The below viewpoints are strictly my own.
One of my favorite pastimes include trying to marvel on symmetry, finding relations between Science and Life and getting constantly amazed at God’s own creations. I am of the view that Life is an open set which can be understood in a better way using God’s own language. To put forth my view point, Let’s take a hypothetical specimen. Take his/her age in years on the x-axis. Life on the y-axis.( Life here must not confused with either his/her duration of living). It just refers to happenings and events that leave an impact on his/her life. Now to make it less complex, we will kick out the third dimension and just make it a 2-dimensional x-y plane with no negative axis.
At the time of the birth, We start at the origin. Consequently, taking a normal person’s life( Supposing he grows up with the support of his parents, goes to school and proceeds with the life of a normal human being), the curve increases steadily with value of the slope wavering on either sides of (ѳ=45°). Let s take an event which has a positive impact on one’s life. For example, scoring a good mark in the tenth grade results in increase of the slope, the curve has a larger Δy. Hence resulting in the outcome of
Happiness. Then slowly the curve retains normalcy. Then as life progresses, supposing the person completes a bachelor degree, then after a few years gets kicked out of his job. His life experiences a negative influence as a consequence on the unfortunate turn of events. The slope takes a negative value as there is a decrement in y with increment in x. State of
Sadness/Depression results.
Contentment will only result from a steady increase in both the parameters. It is also seen that both these extreme states of the mind result as a outcome of change in events. The degree to which a certain event influences your life and in turn makes the curve take abrupt turns solely influence the different states of happiness and sadness. Let’s just examine a sample curve with notable events making up for the change in states in a specimen’s life:
Parameters controlling the curve:
The shape of the curve is a direct result of your own actions. I would not get philosophical here stressing on the details, but let’s say it is a person’s hard work that gets him good results in the exams and so on. On that note, more or less, we do control our life in most cases lest sometimes there be divine interruption or instances where we blame occurrences to fate. Anyhow, a major part of our life can be controlled by us, and it is up to us to mould the curve to our liking, to make sure that the past does not have a negative influence on our future. That is, a dipping curve must not continue to dip.
On an ending note, I would invite people to pour in their own ways of associating Life with Mathematics. Drop in with your views !
Have you ever woken from a deep slumber realizing that you are YOU, and the past few moments which you were just living out made no sense at all? Absolutely no sense? It does happen quite a number of times to quite some people which is exactly the reason it makes one ponder, what is the objective? In the sense, what do you comprehend of dreams that you do not even have an iota of an understanding about? Picturize this. A straight line green in color is extending in a single direction, takes a curve then divides into similar colored lines all forming different curves, forming no symmetry. I could not make anything of this dream. Absolutely zero. Then all of a sudden, I am there, doing something, with someone. Sometimes it can be the weirdest of people doing the weirdest of things, like say I remember this particular dream six years back. I was in high school and this particular dream really made me excogitate for a really long period of time. I was returning home from school and find that my home is surrounded by a totally different surrounding. A completely contrasting setting. There were no neighboring houses. A long lake behind my house, very few people walking the streets. There was no air of business around at all. It was as if the place went back in time by around half a century. Then all of a sudden I am in another location altogether. Sometimes there is a dream within a dream. I wake up in that dream, to discover that I am living an other life. Then when things slowly unravel and still it doesn’t make any sense, you wake up and come back into reality. It is as if who you are and what you make of yourself in reality has a weird influence on your dreams. If the difference between what you dream and what happens in reality is too high, then you wake up with the shortest of dreams. If the dream involves something and someone from your real life, then the dream prolongs and you even remember a part of the dream very well. Now I do not the science behind dreams, but if scientists have found out how to ‘create’ a dream, and then put a person in a virtual world, a lot of unhappiness in a person’s life can be made up for. But the dangers of such a potentially hazardous science, still at its infancy, are great considering that the ‘virtualization’ might become uncontrolled.
Another random observation from my dreams is that none of them are following a sequence. Supposing you think of a particular thing the whole day, and it might not come in your dream at all. And you think of something else for a very short period of time, and it might have a high probability of appearing in your dream. Let’s say a person has a Math test tomorrow, and all the while he is doing math, but for a split second, he thinks of his favorite sport, let’s say soccer. Then math again for a few hours. He takes a break and reminisces the good days with his friends, and then goes into problem solving again. Weird though as it may seem, that night he might not dream anything about Math, but he might dream something about soccer or his friends, or weirder still, he might dream his friend playing soccer with him. Dreams are certainly not taken to be lightly, its connection with the brain runs deep, even deeper than one can fathom. Some are so scarily close to reality, that a major section of the people who accidentally relieve themselves while sleeping actually imagine themselves in the dream relieving. Scary but true. And ‘Relief’ here is used in a shorter sense for a broader perspective, indicating that there is more to it than just what can be written here, and a few weirder things related to the natural process of procreation.
Dreams are a weird bunch of creations, I still do not understand their sole purpose. If the dream I dream about is something that I dreamt it wouldn’t be dreamed about, then why dream about something at all? Certain dreams have an added degree of complexity which sometimes makes sense, and sometimes don’t.
One thing that is iterative is whenever I experience a fall of great height, be it from a tall building or into a deep pit, I wake up from my dream before the fall itself completes. The duration of the dream is indirectly proportional to the complexity of the dream. If somehow the complexity also unravels with duration, then you wake up with frenzied pondering and a slightly increased heart beat. Amazing, isn’t it? We all have had our own fair share of weird dreams. It is only very intriguing to see the connection and the science behind the occurrence of dreams.

Time and again I have been spellbound by God's creations. Music has been an integral part of life. With keen observation, you will agree with me when I say one can find music in many forms, not just the ones you listen conceived by humans. Nature has been enchanting in its ways. Lets say you close your eyes and listen to the chirping of birds. The rustling of the leaves. It all forms a rhythmic pattern. It is like all elements of nature follow some system which they evolve and procure over the ages. One such facet of God's endless creations is Music. It is undoubtedly one of the arts conceived by the supreme one. Not only is it pleasing for the senses, but has mysterious effects as well.
Over the past few days, I have been plagued by this particular cogitation which persistently storms my head and creates a firm footprint but still doesn't find a suitable answer. Its like this- you remember a music track that you are listening to when a important part/event of your life happens. Suppose I was listening to a song of coldplay minutes before a math exam, and suppose I do well in that exam, then everytime I listen to that same particular song, that familiar chord strikes in me bringing back memories of that good Math exam. Now the song may or may not be a great one, but I would still remember that pre-exam preparation whenever the song plays in my head because i closely associate that song with something that coincided with a particular event in my life. And I would listen to that song with all my heart and enjoy it very well. Similarly say some song played in your head while you were going through a difficult part of your life, say a breakup or something, then everytime you hear that song, you get reminded of that one particular sad event and you are appalled from listening to that song. No matter how great the song may be, you still shy away from that song and you dont want to get reminded of pasts you would like to forget. You interrupt that song in the middle and just shut your mind away from it.
All this makes me stand up and think. Why is music a great tool for remembering certain other parts of memories ? How is it even connected to other parts of memory ? Now lets not get all scientific and say that a particular image that is envisaged in your brain is stored in some particular part of the cerebrum and thus helps connect to other parts of memory. A basic ideology is that all memories are interlinked and the ones which we dwell on are the ones we like. But sometimes there is intertagging and some part of the memory which you dont like springs up along with some additional memory which you dislike not because you dislike it individually but because you disliked its associated memory-part. Is it just me or do the people out there have some song playing in their head everytime they get reminded of a sad event ? It can be vice-versa too. I am still finding answers on this one.
Every time you listen to a particular song or it just virtually plays in your head, do crystal clear memories come back to you ? The depth of the clearness so astonishing in detail that you are sure you couldn't have remembered it better ? Does the envisaged memory become more detailed as the song progresses ? Do you stop thinking about that past event if you stop listening to that song ? A lot of questions in my mind need answering. Is there any parallel with music that will make a sub-conscious mind remember a event with precise detail given it were closely associated with it ? The other parts of life which I dont have suitable answers is the interlinking of senses. I will come up with that in a later post. Hope this post made you a bit philosophical !

Ah ! I wonder the percentage of people who would have avidly looked up the meaning of the title of this post. For others who knew the meaning evidently from GRE practice or a tad extra common sense, you know what this post might be about.
Hello world ! My name is Prashanth Rajan. In giving a specific break-down of what I may perceive to be a suitable enough description, I would like to live life to the fullest. I somewhat find switching to different shades of my life to my liking, add to it a bit of persona and mystery. An ardent fan of LOTR, please do not start me on that. It is for your own good. I am still trying to understand the whole meaning of life. It is a infinite journey, but what I do not understand wholly is I cannot see myself the way others see me. I could not, probably will not, and better should not. Different shades of life in the sense I might come across as a typical nerd one day, but the other you might just find me dozing off life with absolutely nothing on my mind. Complete blankness is an obsessed ecstasy by itself. One day I might be a hippy sports-tennis guy, the other you may find a secret crime fighter. You never know. I love being myself, though this boldness of mine does face stern criticism in the light of some provocative actions. There is a lot to me than that meets the eye. But if I said it all, it would mean a complete waste, wouldn't you like to find that out by yourself ? I would love to find that someone who shall make thy complete. No one can be 'complete' in the literal sense, but hell, who says complete has a stereotyped meaning ? To each own, his own meaning of life. Until then, the avid seeker in me will always be on the prowl, garnering answers to make his meaning of life, or something like it. Adios !
